Retired barrister

I was called to the English Bar (Middle Temple) in 1982. Latterly I practised  at 13 Old Square Chambers, Lincoln's Inn, London. I did insurance, inheritance, private client etc. I retired in good standing in 2009.

International insurance

I specialised in a niche branch of international insurance lawon which I wrote ground-breaking, game-changing technical ('billion-dollar lawyer-author') books and articles, appeared on radio and TV, spoke at international lawyer conferences etc.

International inheritance

Since 2005 I've been involved in various international inheritance criminal cases. Now I run a mould-breaking international inheritance crime consulting firm. Its mission is to criminalise inheritance crime and develop the professional fields of inheritance crime investigation and prosecution globally.

Name change

In 2011, I changed my birth surname Astor (my father's choice after WW2) to Szrabe, a derivative of my ancestral paternal-paternal surname. 'Astor' had to go.

Concert-standard pianist

One pet project is to go around the world playing all 25 Mozart one-piano piano concertos in unusual, eccentric, exotic locations — and collecting inheritance stories!
